Kitchen Ceiling Options
Faux

Faux ceiling tiles were developed to keep up with the high demand for the tin and aluminum tiles. The faux ceiling tiles are more affordable, the installation is simplified and the faux material gives additional advantages. The material of choice is usually PVC plastic, Polystyrene, and fiberglass. These materials are lightweight, virtually maintenance free, and ensures the longevity of the product. Unlike their "dropped ceiling" counterparts, these tiles are usually glued or nailed to the ceiling. This does not reduce the height of the ceiling, unlike when using the suspended grid.

  • Tile
  • 12” X 12” ceiling tiles can be installed directly to the ceiling with furring strips or adhesive. And, they’re paintable to create a look that’s uniquely you.
  • Plank
  • There are many styles of ceiling planks some of them will add the texture and character of wood or bead board your kitchen.
  • Panel
  • Our partners offer a variety of suspended ceiling options in either 2’ x 2’ or 2’ x 4’ sizes. Mineral fiber ceiling panels can be installed with a grid system while Metallaire™ delivers a tin ceiling look in either a lay-in grid or nail-up installation solution.
Wood Panel

Wood paneling comes manufactured in natural wood, wood veneers, medium density fiberboard (MDF), and high density fiberboard (HDF).

  • Solid Wood
  • Installed as tongue and groove panels or as planks. Stain is an important aspect of wood. Stain in your desired color will bring the perfect effect.
  • Wood Veneer
  • A veneer is a thin covering over another surface. Thin slices of wood, usually thinner than 3 mm (1/8 inch), that are typically glued onto core panels (typically, wood, particle board or medium density fiberboard) to produce flat panels. The thin layer can also be manufacturered giving you color consistency and significant cost savings.
  • MDF
  • Medium density fiberboard is one of most affordable forms of wood paneling. Composed of many small wood waste particles glued and compressed together with resins, it is less expensive to manufacture. Consumers like MDF products not only for their affordability, but also because they are smooth, blemish-free, and easier to maintain than solid wood.
  • HDF
  • High Definition fiberboard is a very similar product to MDF, except that it is stronger.
  • Plywood
  • Plywood paneling comes in various decorative designs such as this plybead from Georgia Pacific.
Popcorn

Popcorn ceiling is a term for a spray-on or paint-on acoustic ceiling treatment often used in the 1960s and 1970s in American residential construction. Its bright white "cottage cheese" texture, often with small bits of gold-colored glitter attached, was good at covering poor workmanship in the attachment and taping of the drywall and helped eliminate echoes and reflected sound. It was also quickly and easily applied in new construction. It was often the standard for bedroom and residential hallways ceilings, while kitchen and living rooms ceilings would normally be textured in smoother skip-trowel or orange peel texture.

Succo

Stucco has a great many unseen advantages, it is extremely durable and lasts a very long time, it is decorative and unique as no two stucco walls or ceilings look the same and it stays cleaner than ordinary flat paint because the surface is raised and can not be touched with a whole smudgy finger or hand!

Dropped

Dropped ceilings create a cozy feeling. While it's less common for the kitchen area it is a nice compliment to spaces between the dining room and the kitchen. They are created by framing-in a second ceiling below the first ceiling.
